Alchemy of Life

To create this series, I mixed various chemical compounds with liquid colours to create abstract images, experimenting with the reactions the process generates. Then I added a second compound, then a third and so on.

The result is a collection of surreal ‘reactions’ portraits. Some may remind us of famous paintings such as work by Edvard Munch or Gustav Klimt, while others resemble surreal, colourful cloud formations.

I view these images as a metaphor for our lives: It is healthy to experiment and sometimes open the door to the unknown. Although some experiments will not lead anywhere, others may help us to discover and create impressions we could not imagine were possible.
