I am a photographer. I like to make the impossible possible — to take the tools I have and probe deeper, seeking beauty where others do not find any yet.

Beauty is everywhere and nowhere. Often it just waits to be found. I like the unconventional; photography would not be worth the effort for me if I could not produce some magic with it.

Biography

Gianfranco Merati is a fine-art photographer whose work turns overlooked processes — vibration, refraction, growth, decay — into luminous, otherworldly images.

Working close to his subjects, he treats the camera as an instrument of discovery rather than record, coaxing form and colour out of the smallest and most fleeting phenomena.
